Centre for Effective Learning in Science, Nottingham Trent University

The aims of this conference are to bring together academics and practitioners to showcase best practice in science outreach and to encourage those who would like to get involved in outreach – but don’t know where to start - to develop their own programmes and activities.

This is a cross disciplinary conference which seeks to allow activists and practitioners to learn from each other and cross fertilise ideas. It is not necessary to present a paper, to have a poster or to host a workshop. Call for Contributions: Contributions are invited in the following categories:

Workshops: In these 90 minute sessions, groups of 15-20 will participate in hands-on ‘how to’ workshops.

Oral Presentations: These are 10 minute papers followed by discussion of no more than 5 minutes.

Posters: Posters showing examples of ideas for outreach work.

Abstracts: The deadline for offers of abstracts is 6th June 2008.

Abstracts are to be submitted as an email attachment as a Word document. They should be typed in Times New Roman 12 point and include:

• Type of  contribution offered
• Telephone and FAX  numbers
• Title
• E-mail Contact  Author/s
• Author/s’  department & institution

Registration Fees

• Whole meeting Early  bird (before 18th July), £60
• Full fee, £70  
• Single day Early  bird (before 18th July), £35
• Full fee, £45  
• Accommodation ( B  & B): Tuesday 9th September, £30
• Accommodation  (B&B): Wednesday 10th September, £30
  

The whole meeting registration fee covers lunch, coffee and tea on Wednesday and Thursday and the Wine Reception and Conference Dinner in central Nottingham on Wednesday.

Accommodation is in single en-suite University rooms.
