Summary

This project is designed to follow-on from a collaboration with Christina Hadjithoma-Garstka, LKL, to take forward our initial research about using electronic voting systems (EVS) to explore how the 2009/10 PGCE science cohort might use EVS for teaching and learning. The first area of research will focus on developing EVS strategies to enable PGCE science students to assess their own subject content knowledge (SCK) at the start of the course in September / October. There are a number of key opportunities for the PGCE student teachers to assess what they understand. In doing so, the aim is to encourage them to explore the underlying pedagogical implications of using EVS for active assessment for learning.
